Created by Yves Blaquière, managed by an association and with the support of the town council, which owns part of the collection, the Musée du verre de Sorèze currently boasts a huge collection of old glass, some of which is on permanent display.
One of the museum’s strengths is that it focuses on glass-blowing in Languedoc during the “Ancien Régime”, and more specifically on the production of the glass-makers of the Montagne Noire in the 16th century. These glasses are exhibited alongside archaeological material, some of which is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
One of the rooms is devoted to French and foreign glass over a hundred years old.
